Son Stabs Father to Death in Chicago

Garfinkel criminal LeeviA 24-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder for his involvement in an altercation that left his father dead, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on March 24. Mason Johnson stabbed his 49-year-old father, Kenneth, multiple times inside their home in South Rockwell. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn to be treated for their injuries but only the son’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Mason Johnson became so angry by his father’s demands to clean the basement that he charged at him, armed with a knife, according to DNAinfo.com. Johnson stabbed his father many times in the face and head before he dropped the weapon. The father then took the knife and attacked his son. When police arrived to the crime scene, they found Mason Johnson clutching the knife. Police ordered him to drop the knife, but he refused and was tasered.

Kenneth Johnson was a respected neighbor in the Kennedy Park community where he had been living about six years. According to his neighbors, he was married and,“he seemed like a nice enough fellow.” “They were pretty nice people,” another neighbor said. “They kind of kept to themselves. They walked their dog. This is a travesty.”
